Michelle Cole

Michelle Cole discovered printmaking whilst studying Fine Arts twenty years ago and became entranced by the process. There followed many years of moving in and out of creating art, whilst working as an educator.

In recent years Michelle has returned to the art, exploring printmaking as a way to interpret the environment she inhabits: the broad landscapes of the Illawarra escarpment and ocean shores, and the intimate scapes of private and communal gardens. Of deliberate focus is her attention to light and shadows and the way shapes and movement are created fleetingly. As a keen gardener, bushwalker and traveller, Michelle finds these experiences inspire and inform her art.

Michelle has recently begun exhibiting her work with the Southern Highlands Printmakers and at the Bowral Art Gallery. Her current focus is exploring the way linocuts can be used to create images which capture the play of light.
