Margot Rushton

Margot Rushton

Printmaking is Margot's passion with a focus on copper etching and reduction linocut, which she pursues in her cosy Illawarra studio. In 1983 Patricia Holleley, print instructor at Wollongong TAFE, introduced Margot to this media and she was hooked. Afterwards she studied sculpture as an undergraduate at the Canberra School of Arts.

Due to career needs,  Margot was not able to dedicate serious time to printmaking until 2010 when she set up her studio. Margot concentrates on learning new techniques and gathering ideas from her many and varied travels to Italy, Greece, India and Laos where she worked for 2 years. Foreign cultures have greatly influenced her imagery.

Recently Margot exhibited in Skopelos, Greece following a 2 week workshop learning the subtleties of wood engraving. In November 2017 she held her first solo exhibition at the Art Bar in Kiama, New South Wales. Her work is held in private collections around Australia.
