Kathie Atkinson’s photographic foundations were laid during her apprenticeship with the Australian Broadcasting Commission. That 20 year period included a lengthy stint under the tutelage of the naturalist Harry Butler, while she was stills photographer for the ground-breaking series “In the Wild.” This not only fanned her lifelong passion for the natural world, but greatly increased her knowledge and understanding of that world and the ways of its creatures.

Her passion for SCUBA diving and photographing marine creatures became an obsession that led to a new career as a freelance wildlife photographer. Her work has been published worldwide and she is the author of award winning children’s books.

Kathie is now exploring printmaking as a new way to indulge her passions and her creativity.
