Sue Shearer
Sue has been printmaking for nearly twenty years, finding endless inspiration in the fauna and flora of her local environment, as well as the places she’s visited abroad. Time spent in China and Japan has left a lasting mark on her work—her prints reflect not just her love of nature, but also the philosophies and aesthetics she encountered during her travels.
She works mainly in Photopolymer Intaglio, a technique that lets her capture fine details and intricate patterns, bringing out the textures and subtle light in the things she observes. Whether it’s the delicate curve of a leaf or the markings of a bird, her prints are about noticing and celebrating the beauty in the everyday.
Photography is another passion of Sue’s. With a camera in hand, she’s always on the lookout for interesting compositions and fleeting moments. Her photography feeds into her printmaking, and vice versa, giving her plenty of ways to engage with the world around her and fuel her creativity.
After two decades, Sue’s enthusiasm for her art hasn’t faded. She’s always evolving, drawing on the natural world and her experiences to create work that encourages others to pause and appreciate the details that often go unnoticed.
