Sandra Shrubb

Sandra creates her imagery about trees utilising old etching plate backgrounds and old prints with monotypes and relief prints to give depth and layering of meaning. She also uses white ground techniques, combination digital/monotypes and etching, mixing and meshing the techniques together to visually interpret the rhythms from the landscape.

She is also an avid photographer and interprets her photographs into her printmaking.

"When I touch a smooth eucalypt, the texture of the bark against my cheek, feel its coolness – watch the ants meander up and down, birds calling from above – I am in another world, another dimension – I can feel the wind in the leaves, feel the very essence of the tree, and the rhythm of my heart joins with the tree’s that sets the beat for the entire system.
I wander the bush with purpose, seeking new sights, sounds, tastes, smells, wishing to encapsulate them in my printmaking."
