Robyn Kinsela

Robyn is an artist-designer-educator. She studied Architecture at Sydney University (1970) and then completed her Diploma of Industrial Design at Randwick CAE (1974) and Graduate Diploma Education (Art), Sydney Teachers College (1978).

Robyn takes images and parts of images, from her own studio paintings, drawings and photographs, and reinvents them to produce editions of pigment prints. These prints become new works that have the essence of the original sources without copying or reproducing any of those originals. She often paints, draws and conventionally prints back onto these to produce multimedia works on paper.

Her current work is influenced by the pure enjoyment of analysing and the translating of her experiences with everyday activities and places, showing particular interest in surface textures and patterns and in the visual communication of the senses of sound and smell. Like many artists, she enjoys the ambiguities of reality, appearance and illusion.
