  Lynne Flemons

Lynne Flemons’ work comes from her experience of place and what it reveals over a period of time. Lynne has been an artist-in-residence at Hill End near Bathurst in NSW where she developed a body of work about the relationship between the landscape and the historic village.

Before going to Hill End I began researching the buildings through paintings done by artist such as Donald Friend and Russell Drysdale and also photographs from the Holtermann collection taken in the 1870’s during the height of the gold rush. What interested me about these photos were the people standing in front of their houses, particularly the women in their long dresses. These family photos without names, unknown to me and unknowable.

More recently Lynne has been a resident artist at the Gatekeepers Cottage in Launceston’s Cataract Gorge where she has been developing a new body of work.
